Well then. I know I say this all the time, but I've been neglecting this site in a big way. However, a few things have happened recently that make my previous level of neglect a little bit unsustainable.
First of all, I've been doing a few shows recently, and I have one coming up on Saturday! I'm opening for Cee Knowledge (of the Digable Planets -- if you don't know their song "Cool Like Dat," you were probably born after 1995... not like there is anything wrong with that) at a place called the Shanghai Rock Hotel in Midtown. My set is at 9:30, and I'm doing a lot of backing-track recording and perhaps learning how to deal with a looper between now and then. It's the kind of show with tickets, so if anyone reading this is interested, just send an e-mail to jon@jonfullermusic.com, and we'll make something happen! They're $13 each, and they're good for the whole night.
The other thing that happened, and very recently at that, is that I had the incredible fortune to share a stage with the fabulous Melissa Tong and inimitable Vienna Teng last night. It was a last-minute show and an even more last-minute collaboration (I met Melissa after we both performed "Antebellum" together!), but it was one of the most wonderful nights. And I have to say, from the conversations I had before and after the show, people who go to Vienna Teng shows are pretty spectacular people indeed. There may be video coming of "Harbor," and if I can hack it, a few pictures from the night as well.
The moral of this story, really, is I'm at a point where I get out of this whole music thing exactly what I put into it. If I push even a little bit, remarkable things happen, and if I put on cruise control, months will go by. We'll see what happens, but I do know I've been galvanized in a big way to take the reins again and see how far we can ride this crazy music thing.
